Naya Pakistan Housing Project Launched By Prime Minister Imran Khan

Finally, Prime Minister Imran Khan launched the “Naya Pakistan Housing Programme” on Wednesday, the purpose of this project is constructing the five million affordable houses for sheltering the poor and low-income people of Pakistan. Basically building the low-cost homes for poor and homeless people was the cornerstone of PTI election manifesto, which they are going to fulfill in coming 5 years tenure.

Prime minister make sure for the transparency of this mega housing project, for which he announced to form the Naya Pakistan Housing Authority (NPHA) in 90 days. For the time being, the seventeen-member Housing Task Force would supervise the housing Programme. The development of housing project would be done under a public-private partnership to construct housing units with all basic facilities, besides it, the government of Pakistan would provide the land, supervision and try to remove all the hurdles that may come in the way.

The basic and essential legal framework would also be planned by the Ministry of Law and Justice within the required time. Under NPHA, every candidate would be offered 15 to 20 years easy payment plan and the State Bank of Pakistan would help the commercial banks for financing in this housing project.

Furthermore, a land bank will collect and register the data of federal and provincial lands so that the government could easily provide land for starting the housing project by the private sector. The housing units have different one-bed and two-bed categories and the construction of these units would be started after the registration process.

The Housing Task Force has total 17 members, in which eight members belong to the private sector, five from provincial housing ministries and rest of five from the federal government including secretaries housing, finance, law & justice, planning, and NADRA. The housing authority would coordinate with provincial governments and local bodies and provide a one-window operation in urban and rural areas as well.

In the very first phase, the Naya Pakistan Housing Programme will be launched in seven districts including Sukkur, Quetta, Muzaffarabad, Gilgit, Faisalabad, DI Khan, and Islamabad. One important thing that NADRA would collect the basic data of homeless and low-income people through registration during the next 60 days. Moreover, this data will help to find the conditions, income level of people and per month mortgage which they can easily pay.

Beside it, Prime minister Imran Khan also launched the housing scheme under the NPHP for federal government employees. The federal government employees from BS 1 to 16 would be eligible for registration in the housing scheme.

The local construction industry is one of the most vital sectors of our economy because many other industries are related to it and this step will be very important for reviving employment generation and economic activity. Thus, this housing project will be very beneficial for encouraging the local construction industry, labor, and technology.

How to apply:

A candidate can get the online form and download it from NADRA’s website, however it can be submitted from October 22 to December 21 along with 250 rupees registration fee at the certain district offices.
